Kayaker drowns in Mzimkhulu River Mouth in KwaZulu-Natal Posted by Taylah Strauss on 7 June 2022 During a routine training exercise, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) received reports of a capsized kayak in the Mzimkhulu River Mouth on 4 June. Credit: Gavin Fordham/Flickr Commons The South African Police Services (SAPS) were notified, and the NRSI rescue crew were dispatched to the scene. Police Search and Rescue and Med-Evac protocols were also initiated. The kayak washed ashore and shortly after a body was found in the surf-line. Unfortunately, the man (70) was declared dead on arrival.
