Johannesburg to get man-made beach Posted by Anita Froneman on 10 February 2020 Gauteng residents will soon be able to head to the beach without going anywhere near the coast. A new development called Munyaka – meaning ‘crystal’ in Venda – will aim to be the largest man-made lagoon in the southern hemisphere. The development will be a waterfront living space, recreational water park featuring an artificial beach and lifestyle centre all in one said to rival (if not surpass) the likes of Sun City. Balwin properties announced their plans to build luxury one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments starting at R799 000, as well as two ultra-luxurious penthouses with a 180-degree view of the lagoon expected to sell at R30 million each. Munyaka in Waterfall is releasing for sales on the 7 March 2020.. There is even more to look forward to for the rest of the country, as Balwin concluded an exclusivity agreement with Crystal Lagoons for South Africa and plan to develop freshwater lagoons in Pretoria, the Dolphin Coast, the Western Cape and Mbombela, according to The South African.
