France bans travel from UK as Brits face ‘tidal wave’ of Omicron infections Posted by Anita Froneman on 17 December 2021 France has instated a travel ban against the United Kingdom, and those who have to travel for essential purposes will need a negative PCR test no older than 24 hours. They will also have to quarantine in France for seven days (or 48 hours if they can produce a new negative test). This includes vaccinated people. ‘People cannot travel for tourism or professional reasons,’ the French government stated according to The Guardian, citing that the British government admitted the UK would face ‘a tidal wave’ of new COVID-19 infections of the Omicron variant. ‘All travellers from the UK must register before their departure on a digital platform allowing them in particular to give the address where they will be staying in France,’ the statement added. The UK recently scrapped their infamous red list completely, after it banned a total of 11 African countries between 29 November and 4 December. Several EU countries have also banned South Africa, and those bans have not been lifted yet.
