Floods expected for Kruger National Park

Heavy rain is predicted for the Kruger National Park in the coming days, which could lead to flooding. Up to 116mm of rainfall is expected on Sunday, January 24 and 129mm for Monday, January 25 according to YR.

This comes after Tropical Storm Eloise has developed near the north-eastern quadrant of Madagascar and is likely to cause adverse weather in Mozambique and the northern parts of South Africa.

The storm made landfall over the town of Antalaha on Tuesday, January 19, and is expected to move over the Mozambique Channel on January 21, according to Relief Web. 

Thunderstorms are expected to continue in the region of the Kruger National Park until Wednesday, February 3 according to Weather.com. Storms and heavy rain will be accompanied by severely high temperatures.

‘For Kruger National Park in the coming two weeks, the average daytime maximum temperature will be around 32°C, with a high for the two weeks of 41°C expected on the afternoon of Sunday 24th. The average minimum temperature will be 22°C, dipping to its lowest on the morning of Friday 22nd at 19°C,’ reports My Weather.

In Gauteng, extremely hot weather is predicted from Wednesday, January 21, through to Sunday with temperatures reaching a scorching 34°C on Saturday and Sunday.
