First snow could fall in Eastern Cape and Lesotho this weekend Posted by Anita Froneman on 6 April 2022 The autumn months have brought a noticeable drop in temperatures in many parts of South Africa, and now weather models predict possible snowfall in Lesotho and the Eastern Cape in the following days. ‘Single-digit lows across many parts of the interior this week and into the weekend. Possible snowfall in Lesotho and Eastern Cape mountains, our models will confirm or negate this closer to Thursday,’ said Afri Weather – AfriWx. ‘Some areas of the Eastern and Northern Cape and Southern Free State could easily see their first sub-zero temperatures. Much cooler daytime temps as can be seen on our weather maps below,’ it added. Heavy rain is expected over the Free State, North West, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng from Friday according to Storm Report SA.
