The fire, which began in Botswana has been raging for at least two days and has crossed in parts into the South African section of the park. On Friday the front was over 50 kilometres. SANParks members were assisting firefighters in Botswana, but the fire reached Polentswa in the north of the park and burned much of the tented lodge to the ground. The cause of the fire is unknown, and many say that high grass after particularly good rains, and strong winds has helped the spread of the fire.
