Fatal elephant incident at Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve Posted on 2 May 2023 A tragic incident occurred on Monday, 1 May 2023, at Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve, in the Breede River Valley, Western Cape. Picture: Getaway gallery According to a statement released by the reserve, a staff member named Kabelo Botha Mashao lost his life due to a fatal encounter with an elephant brought into Inverdoorn about 15 years ago. The circumstances surrounding the event are currently unclear. Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve has expressed condolences and is working with relevant authorities to investigate the incident. ‘Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Mashao family, his friends and colleagues during this difficult time. ‘We are supporting our staff and all those affected by this tragic event.
