Excitement mounts as visitors enter Kruger National Park Posted by Anita Froneman on 8 June 2020 SANParks across the country have reopened for self-drive day visitors today [8 June]. Safari enthusiasts are once again able to explore the Kruger National Park. Read: Kruger National Park reopens for game drives Many excited safari goers lined up from early this morning to enter the Kruger National Park. Excited visitors posted on Facebook. ‘Going slowly but we are almost at the gate. Officials going through vehicles. Screening gets done at the gate. Arrived at 5:45 going through booms now, takes about an hour,’ Facebook user Quintin Page said. Visitors, traveling in a group but using several cars, talk to us before entering the park. Can I hide in this bush?” 🐘 First big 5 sighting from our team on the ground. pic.twitter.com/Kbr1bkZKtm — Kruger National Park (@SANParksKNP) June 8, 2020 ‘The Park will be imposing strict quotas to minimise congestion, therefore guests are encouraged to prebook and pay on-line for day visits,’ SANParks posted on Facebook. The following gates will be open: Malelane, Paul Kruger, Crocodile Bridge, Phabeni, Orpen, Phalaborwa and Punda Maria. Three time slots for arrival are allocated: Slot 1 is from 6am to 8am, Slot 2 from 8am to 10am and Slot 3 from 10am onwards. Visitors are also reminded to plan their routes so as not to cross any provincial borders. Bookings can be made at 012 428 9111 or www.sanparks.org If you experience any clinical symptoms while in the park, immediately avoid contact with people outside your travel group, keep your mask on, exit the park and seek medical care.
