EU countries ease more Covid restrictions for inbound travellers

The EU removed its non-essential travel ban on 1 March after concluding that travel restrictions no longer play a major in halting the role of the virus. Three EU countries have since eased their measures for incoming travellers.

Greece, Belgium and France have relieved some of their travel restrictions in an effort to boost tourism. The Greek government announced that vaccinated travellers will no longer have to fill in a passenger locater form from 15 March, regardless of their country of origin.

Travellers will still be required to present a valid vaccination certificate upon entry or proof of recovery. Furthermore, travellers who hold a vaccination, recovery or test certificate will not be subject to pre-entry testing or quarantine requirement.

From 11 March, Belgium will ease the same restriction with arriving travellers no longer required to fill in a passenger locater form.

The French authorities also announced that they will be lifting some restrictions, including the requirement to to hold a valid pass when accessing different indoor areas such as restaurants, cafes, bars, museums, cinemas, and other similar places.

The French government is yet to announce the date for when this restriction will be lifted, but from 14 March, there will no l longer be a requirement to wear a facemask when attending public places. A facemask will still be mandatory when using public transport and visiting health institutions.
