Eiffel Tower reopens after 3 months Posted on 25 June 2020 The Eiffel Tower in Paris reopened to visitors today, June 25 after 104 days of being closed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The reopening of this famed landmark is a milestone for France’s lockdown recovery. Visitors are expected to uphold social distancing norms, remaining 1.5-2m away from one another. Visitors are also expected to wear masks at all times and the volume of entrants will be capped. The lifts will not be operational in the first week of its reopening, and those wanting to get to the top will have to take the stairs, according to BBC. The wrought-iron tower stands at 324m tall. Only two of the Tower’s three decks reopened according to AFP. The Tower’s director general, Patrick Branco Ruivo said to AFP that the landmark lost €27-million (R526,997,070) during lockdown.
