Cradle Boutique Hotel wins Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award Posted by David Henning on 12 July 2022 The Cradle Boutique Hotel – the only hotel in the world on an active paleoanthropological site – is the recipient of a coveted Tripadvisor 2022 Travellers’ Choice Award. Every year, the online travel company recognises businesses that have demonstrated a commitment to hospitality excellence with a Travellers’ Choice Award, which is voted for by hotel guests from around the globe. ‘This award is a great achievement since the direct rating system comes from paying guests,’ says hotel CEO Kobus Botha. Just 45km from the country’s financial hub of Sandton, the Cradle Boutique Hotel is housed within a 9 000ha, privately owned reserve that is located inside the greater Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. The hotel is also home to the Malapa Museum (in partnership with paleoanthropologist Professor Lee Berger’s foundation, National Geographic and the Malapa Motsetse Foundation), which houses fossils found on the property that tell the story of the origins of humankind. It has a 220-seater restaurant with unparalleled views of a breath-taking Highveld landscape that endorses a cradle (farm) to table philosophy. Adhering to strict green codes to guarantee best conservation practices, profits are poured back into conservation, education and the protection of the Malapa Motsetse Foundation.
