Child nearly swallowed by hippo in Uganda Posted on 16 December 2022 A two-year-old boy was attacked and allegedly nearly swallowed by a hippo in the Katwe-Kabatoro district of Uganda on 4 December. The child was spat out again and is expected to make a full recovery, reports CNN. Picture: Morkel Erasmus A local man came across the scene and threw stones at the hippo to stop it from further injuring the child. The hippo released the boy from its mouth and fled. The boy was rushed to a hospital but had no life-threatening injuries. It is not clear how the child’s encounter with the hippo started, but reports say the boy’s family lives near a lake and he was likey playing on the banks when the hippo attacked him. Hippos are known to be aggressive animals and will attack when they feel threatened.
