CemAir expands operations by 50% Posted by Anita Froneman on 23 November 2020 Local airline CemAir aims to secure a stronghold in the mainstream commercial aviation industry by increasing operations by 50%. The airline is buying three more Airbus A319 aircraft and has applied for approvals to fly to six more destinations in Africa, according to Business Tech. CemAir currently flies between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein, Hoedspruit, Plettenberg Bay, Margate, George and Kimberley. CemAir operates flights to most regional destinations. Its current fleet consists of the following aircraft: Mitsubishi CRJ-900 Mitsubishi CRJ-100/200 De Havilland Dash 8-400 De Havilland Dash 8-Q300 De Havilland Dash 8-100 Beechcraft 1900D CemAir also leases aircraft and offer charter services to remote locations. ‘CemAir offers humanitarian organisations and resource companies a transport solution in these difficult environments that allows them to get their work done safely and quickly. Our goal is to be the service provider of choice for organisations that require the highest levels of quality and service,’ the airline says. The airline expanded its reach during lockdown when it operated a number of repatriation flights. It was one of the first airlines to resume operations after the ban on interprovincial travel was lifted.
