This award comes at a time when the industry has been affected by repeated bans on alcohol sales the challenges of Covid-19. Co-founder of Creation Wines, Carolyn Martin said ‘never in the 19 years of Creation’s existence have we faced so many challenges as we have in the past 18 months.’ Despite the challenges facing the industry, Martine said this is where the true South African girt came to the fore and that their achievement is a testament to the spirit of their team. ‘Over the tough months we got creative and designed virtual tasting kits that we dispatched locally and internationally to keep our customers engaged,’ she said. She said they skilled up with specialist training courses to make use of lockdown so that when they opened for business again, they can greet guests with renewed enthusiasm.
