Cape Town voted world’s best city Posted on 13 December 2018 Tags:Cape Town UK publication the Telegraph recently ran a survey to see which city in the world its readers consider the best, and Cape Town came out winning. Held in London, the 2018 Telegraph Travel Awards survey elicited over 45,000 reader responses. Cape Town was voted the ‘Best City’ for the sixth consecutive year, with Tokyo coming in at second place and Vancouver in third place. South Africa was also voted second in the category for ‘Best Country’ – up from third place in 2017 and narrowly missing out to New Zealand which took the top spot. ‘We can reveal that the greatest city in the world is a coastal gem, lying in the shadow of a cloud-hugged mountain.
