The African Energy Chamber has announced that Cape Town will be hosting the first Africa Energy Week in November.

V&A Waterfront to host African Energy Chamber event

V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

The event will be hosted at the V&A Waterfront, from November 9 to 12, replacing Africa Oil Week which is a four-day conference that aims at uniting industry stakeholders, international speakers, and the rest of the African oil and gas sector.

This four-day conference will focus on Africa’s energy sector and especially Africa’s role within the global energy transition. Attendees will get the opportunity to pick which panels or sessions they would like to attend. There will also be sponsorship opportunities that will allow attendees more exposure to their own area in the village. One of these main areas will be delegated to higher-level VIPs.

In a statement, mayoral committee member for economic opportunities and asset management Alderman James Vos said ‘Oil and gas is the fastest-growing sector in South Africa, while Cape Town has cornered the country’s renewable energy market, with the World Economic Forum stating in a recent article that the city ‘is a pioneer in providing affordable and secure energy access’.
