Cape Town welcomes Turkish Airlines Dreamliner aircraft Posted by David Henning on 4 April 2022 Cape Town International Airport played host to Turkish Airlines’ prestigious Boeing 787-9 on 1 April, the first time the airline has used the Dreamliner on a flight to Africa. The Dreamliner flies between Cape Town and Istanbul. According to the airline, this is their most advanced aircraft, with a seating capacity of 300 passengers, including 270 Economy Class seats and 30 Business Class seats. The Dreamliner’s Business Class seats offer 44-inch legroom, and a 180-degree full flat 76-inch seat bed length for each of the 30 seats. ‘The Dreamliner aircraft between Istanbul and Cape Town will offer the superb potential for growth in business and leisure travel between these destinations for international visitors and locals alike,’ said Cape Town Committee member for economic growth, Alderman James Vos. The Turkish Airlines’ 787-9 Dreamliner will service four flights per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) between Cape Town International Airport and Istanbul Airport. Did you know? The Dreamliner is made up of about 2.3 million parts, according to Aversan. The Boeing 737 had only 400 000 parts. And, the Dreamliner is Boeing’s most fuel-efficient aircraft, up to 20% more efficient than the 767.
