Body of missing hiker found on Table Mountain Posted by David Henning on 6 January 2022 The body of a missing hiker, who went missing while hiking Table Mountain on Wednesday 5 January 2022, was found on 6 January. Picture: Mountain Club of South Africa Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) were at the scene, but couldn’t comment on the circumstances surrounding the hiker’s death which is subject to investigation. WSAR spokesperson, Johan Marais commented that police went searching on Wednesday, and found the hiker’s backpack. The missing hiker’s body was only found the following day. WSAR said that the body is located between Yellowstone Gorge, Skywalk and Platteklip Gorge. The WSAR helicopter was in the air at 6am on Thursday morning, and commented at 07:50 that the recovery will take place in the next few minutes.
