Biyamithi lion pride territory fight Posted by Anita Froneman on 4 February 2021 Wild Photo Africa Safaris captured an incredible lion fight in the Kruger National Park on February 3 between male members of the Biyamithi lion pride. They shared a video and description on YouTube: ‘We found the Biyamithi Lion Pride on a buffalo kill. There was one male with a few females, cubs and one sub-adult male who was lying a little way off. At first it all seemed normal, however when the young male tried to get closer, the whole pride would stand up and confront him,’ the tour operator said. ‘The young male was about 2 years of age, which is about the age when dominant males would push them out of the pride to go out on their own.’ The female lions can be seen backing the dominant male. The tour operator went on to explain that for young males to be evicted from their natal pride is a common occurrence, as they start to pose a threat to the dominant males when they mature. ‘This young male was lucky that his coalition partners were absent and that he didn’t launch a full on attack on the youngster. This was a very clear message that his time is finished with the pride and that he needs to go and look for greener pastures.’ Take a look: Pcture: Screenshot from YouTube Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
