Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum launches exciting virtual exhibit Posted on 13 January 2021 The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, featuring iconic pieces of artwork. These include paintings done by Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a number of travel restrictions, the chances of seeing these historic pieces of artwork in person are becoming slimmer by the day. Thankfully, the Rijksmuseum decided to bring the artworks to you. The museum has digitised an astonishing 709,000 individual pieces of artwork for everyone to enjoy, regardless of where they are, and best of all, anyone is able to view the artwork for free online as part of a virtual exhibit. As part of the virtual exhibit, each piece of artwork has a detailed description that tells you more about the history of the artwork. As an added benefit, a large number of the collection are in the public domain, meaning with a simple click of a button, you can download your favourite pieces of art, and even customise them as you like. If you would like to expand your knowledge on some of the most iconic pieces of art ever created, or if you’re just looking for a high-quality new wallpaper, click here to take part in the virtual exhibit.
