The AirAsia food brand has just launched a fast-food restaurant inspired by its in-flight menu in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ‘Santan’, which is the name for coconut milk in Malaysia, launched in early December in the capital where the low-cost airline is headquartered. If you’re out and about exploring ‘KL’, Santan offers a sleek digital ordering and payment interface, and hungry tourists can order a variety of Asian dishes, from curries to rice- and noodle dishes, as well as healthy beverages such as coconut water and a range of oolong ice teas in addition to coffee. Favourites from the AirAsia menu includes the popular Pak Nasser’s Lasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang or Ayam Goreng, Vietnamese Chicken Pho and Uncle Chin’s Chicken Rice. Santan plans to have five restaurants by the end of 2020 about 100 global restaurant and cafe franchises in the next three to five years.
