Airbnb launches free stays for medics in Italy

During the large-scale disaster following the coronavirus outbreak, Airbnb in Italy has offered to pay for the stays of medical professionals fighting the pandemic by partnering with various hosts throughout the country for up to two months.

This is part of a new pilot program, Airbnb For Doctors and Nurses.

‘Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone affected by the coronavirus outbreak and we have made it our priority to work with the Airbnb community to provide what support we can,’ Giacomo Trovato, the general manager for Airbnb in Italy, said in a statement. ‘We want to thank medical professionals everywhere who are fighting the outbreak and join with the Airbnb community to help support them in these difficult times.’

Medical professionals who need a place to stay while executing their duties and hosts who are able to provide appropriate accommodation are required to sign up to find the best possible ‘matches.’

‘In light of the extraordinary events unfolding in Italy and across the world, Airbnb will work with hosts to support medical professionals as they work on the frontlines to save lives,’ the accommodation site states.
