Air Namibia resumes domestic flights Posted on 12 May 2020 Tags:Namibia Namibia has introduced a four-stage plan to get the country out of COVID-19 lockdown. In light of this, President Hage Geingob announced Air Namibia will resume domestic flights. Speaking to Tourism Update, Twaku Kayofa, the Corporate Communications Officer for External Relations at Air Namibia, said the aircrafts are not practicing social distancing. There are 7 routes in total that Air Namibia covers and all are in operation. ‘According to Iata, of which Air Namibia is a proud member, evidence suggests that the risk of transmission on board the aircraft is low. ‘Mask wearing by passengers will reduce the transmission and we are disinfecting our aircraft with more frequent and deeper cabin cleaning regularly, to further curb the spread of the coronavirus,’ said Kayofa. Air Namibia is conducting temperature screening for both passengers and crew prior to boarding. Anyone on board has to wear a mask for the duration of the flight. ‘Although regional and international flights are suspended, Air Namibia remains available to offer air transport through charter flights worldwide for humanitarian purposes, as well as to airlift pharmaceutical supplies, consumables, and all essential services.’ Image: Facebook/ Air Namibia Related Posts Cape Town’s sustainability: Leading the way in environmental initiatives 1 June 2023 As National Environmental Month commences in South Africa, Cape Town stands proudly at the forefront... read more Kapama to host Safari Guide of the Year Awards 2023 1 June 2023 Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit will host this year’s Safari Guide of the Year... read more Blood Lions relaunches for public viewing on YouTube 1 June 2023 Award-winning documentary feature film Blood Lions has been relaunched on YouTube for public viewing, creating... read more PREV ARTICLE NEXT ARTICLE
