1time to offer new Mombasa route Posted on 7 December 2011 Tags:Cape Town, Durban, George, Johannesburg, Kenya, London, Mombasa, Port Elizabeth, Tanzania, Zambia, Zanzibar South African low-cost airline 1time is set to implement a second East African route to Mombasa, Kenya. The new route will offer two return flights a week from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Mombasa International Airport in Kenya. The new route will commence from March 2012. 1time has expanded rapidly from its inception in 2004, when it began operating daily domestic flights from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The airline’s domestic routes have expanded to include Durban, East London, George and Port Elizabeth. Internationally 1time offers flights to and from Zanzibar, Tanzania (twice a week) and Livingston, Zambia (five flights a week); now it is set to add Kenya to their international services. 1time’s CEO, Rodney James says that the airline’s expansion into Kenya will complement the airline’s growth aspirations: ‘1time has been looking to expand our routes for some time, and Mombasa presents the perfect opportunity to do so. The city is one of Kenya’s most popular destinations, and a highly sought after holiday location. Therefore, this route has vast potential to entice new customers, and add further value to 1time’s bottom line.’ Mombasa, Kenya’s second largest city, is characterised by a warm, tropical climate, and serves as a major port. Its many tourist attractions include pristine beaches, fishing, as well as the nearby Tsavo National game park. For more information on 1time, go to www.1time.co.za.
