5 reasons why you should have a collapsible water bottle Posted on 9 July 2013 Tags:South America Your doctor will probably tell you it’s because you need to drink more water. Sure, there’s that. But if you’re the adventurous type, you probably don’t care what authority figures have to say. If glowing skin and regular digestion aren’t really your priorities, we figure that one of these collapsible water bottles is still a must-have for any adventurer. Here’s why: 1. Music festivals You know that pesky “decant all your booze into plastic bottles” thing? Ta-da! Also, because it’s collapse-able it’s a lot more smuggle-able, if you’re going somewhere that wants you to pay ridiculous prices for a good time. 2. Something catches on fire It happens. Whether it’s the long grass around your braai area or the electrical shortcuts in your lighting system, no-one wants to waste good beer on a pesky little fire. This is where you flip the water bottle out of your pocket and save the day. 3. You need to transport a liquid Maybe, on your Mongolian adventure, you’ve found a yak whose milk is rumoured to bring immortality. Perhaps you’re an obsessed photographer who can only capture a rare fruit bat with the help of some fermenting mango juice. Or maybe you just want to bring some palm wine back from South America so that your friends can sample it. Instead of emptying your normal water bottle, you can unearth the sneaky collapsible from within your backpack and carry on your merry way. 4. You need to transport something IN liquid Water bottles aren’t exclusively for drinking water. What if you find a previously-undiscovered saltwater fish, flopping about in a rapidly emptying tidal pool? Luckily, you now have a way to transport it to scientists (or back to the ocean, depending on how opportunistic you are). 5. There’s a water-soluble seal on the sacred cave According to every treasure-hunter in Hollywood, the ancients are tricksy ones. Apart from your flame-thrower and grappling hook, you really should have some extra water on hand in case the secret casket is sealed with … crystallised jam? Maybe the directions to the treasure are obscured with mud. The point is, you should always be prepared. Luckily, we’re on your side. That’s why you get one of these awesome collapsible water bottles with every copy of the July issue of Getaway Magazine (on shelves now)!
