Cool place to stay: Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge in Nature’s Valley

Posted on 24 December 2012

The fact that Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge is in Nature’s Valley already says loads about the remarkable views and surroundings. The wooden treehouse-style bar and deck overlooks the Tsitsikamma Mountains and valley and sunsets are a treat from these front-row seats.

Among the complimentary things on offer are sunset drives to Bobbejaans Kloof, tea and coffee, braai wood and the use of the pool table and internet. Walking trails on the farm include the Magic Forest Walk, with its enchanting signs and fairytale-like feel, and another that ends at a waterfall and rock pool – a must for every visitor. If you’re not keen to walk for a refreshing dip, cool off in the on-site swimming pool.

If you can tear yourself away from this beauty, venture out to experience other activities in the area, including bungi jumping, river tubing, hikes, visits to animal sanctuaries, kayaking or treetop canopy tours. After a busy day, tuck into a book in the log cabin or relax in the boma where you can be entertained by a fire poi performer or join in a drumming circle.
