Taking it all in at Knysna’s Cabin 16 Posted on 26 November 2012 Cabin 16 is easily one of my favourite getaway spots – even though I’ve only been there once. The wooden cabin has gorgeous views from from the lounge, main bedroom, entertainment deck, and especially from the pool. Even though there are neighbouring cabins, the peaceful surroundings will make you feel like you have all the beauty to yourself. The four-star, double-storey cabin on the hills of the Phantom Forest has views of rolling hills, valleys and trees, and it’s a bit difficult to stop yourself from staring into the distance for long periods. Cabin 16 sleeps eight comfortably in four rooms (two have balconies), with three bathrooms, a comfy lounge with views and DStv, a large kitchen and scullery. My favourite spot is the wooden deck, which is great for sunny days where al fresco dining and basking is a must after a dip in the splash pool. Although the house sleeps eight, the pool is more suitable for six, depending on how comfortable you are with each other. For an extra special dining experience, light the provided lanterns and have candle-lit dinner on the deck. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, but if you’re in the mood to eat out, there’s a range of good eateries in Knysna, just 11 kilometres away. I’d recommend the Firefly Eating House or if you’re in the mood to browse around, try a spot at the Waterfront. Children are welcome, but be watchful around the unfenced pool. The cabin is in Phantom River View and there are various other cabins to choose from when booking. What it costs to stay at Cabin 16 From R1200 to R3300 for the house a night (sleeps eight).
