Join a Rhino Conservation Experience and dehorning at Tintswalo Lapalala Posted by David Henning on 26 August 2022 In support of World Rhino Day on 22 September, Tintswalo Lapalala and Lapalala Wilderness Reserve invite fellow conservation enthusiasts to join in an immersive Rhino Conservation Experience taking place from 16 to 18 September 2022. Guests will have the rare opportunity to get up close to these magnificent, but endangered animals by assisting the veterinary conservation team. Participants in the Rhino Conservation Experience will be on site when the veterinary team flies overhead in a helicopter in search of the rhino and will follow with an expert ranger in an open 4×4 safari vehicle. Once the animal is darted, the helicopter will land, and guests will be able to assist the veterinary team in collecting samples of blood, tissue and horn shavings. The package also comprises two nights’ accommodation in luxury tents with private plunge pools at Tintswalo Lapalala, all meals and safari activities. Other highlights include a sundowner cruise and a bush breakfast hosted by the conservation legend Clive Walker, the co-founder of Lapalala Wilderness and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT). Tintswalo tented camp. The Lapalala Wilderness Reserve is located within the malaria-free Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, an official UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the past 40 years, the reserve has become a beacon for wildlife research and conservation in South Africa Cost: R19 440 per person sharing.
