Have you been to pretty little Tergniet? Posted by Anita Froneman on 4 March 2022 Squeezed in between the holiday towns of Groot Brak Rivier and Klein Brak Rivier lies the unassuming coastal village of Tergniet. While some claim it’s an extension of Hartenbos, others believe it’s a town in its own right. According to urban design firm CNdV, Tergniet (together with the adjacent village of Reebok) likely developed from the ‘Old Klein Brak’ village, the settlement in the middle of the Klein Brak River floodplain which would have been a historic crossing point. READ: The story behind the famous Klein Brak River abandoned power station This Garden Route spot does not boast large shopping malls, much in the way of entertainment or even really typical tourist attractions. For these, you can easily visit Mossel Bay or George nearby. But if it’s fresh, sunny mornings on the beach and peaceful walks in the afternoons you’re after, this is the place to be. Here, holidaymakers come to escape the crowds and the traffic, and to take lazy swims in the tidal pool or fall asleep reading books on the stoep. Cinematic Solutions SA shared some images of this idyllic area with us. The tidal pool is a favourite dipping spot. Anemones are one of the animals you can find in the tidal pool. Crabs are plenty! The sunsets are not too bad here. Red sea stars are common in South Africa. Long walks on the beach, anyone?
