African civet spotted in Kruger National Park

Posted by Anita Froneman on 21 April 2022

Sighting an African civet is not an everyday experience. These mammals are shy and solitary animals. But, Nelette de la Rey did manage to spot one in Kruger National Park earlier this month.

‘Sometimes you wonder if you’ve missed something good when you sleep that extra hour after the gates open… but then you head out around 7am and just as you turn the corner this little guy is casually crossing the road and you know that extra hour was totally worth it,’ she said.

She saw the civet close to Lower Sabie while driving on the S28.
