2. Bulungulu Lodge –  Bulungulu River mouth, Coffee Bay

Overlooking the pearly white sands while perched among rolling green hills, this eco-lodge is a slice of paradise, run by the local community. Guests can take a horse ride to the Xhora River, where you can also canoe upstream into the forest and take a dip wherever you choose while having your nights accommodation in a classic rondavel.

3. Sugarloaf – Coffee Bay

With sea views overlooking Coffee Bay’s main beach, Sugarloaf is a mainstay of this quaint village. Within 50m walking distance from the beach, housing a restaurant, bar and more, you can’t go wrong here.

4. The Coffee Shack – Coffee Bay

Situated right on the beach, this is the place you want to book for days, months or a year. Their restaurant also offers delicious meals, good coffee and fresh oysters and mussels are available.

5. Mdumbi Backpackers – Mdumbi

Mdumbi Backpackers is an institution along the Wild Coast. Perched on top of a hill with 360-degree views, the hostel is walking distance to one of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa, as well as a prime surfing spot.

6. Amapondo Backpackers – Port St Johns

Another hostel perched on a hilltop, surrounded by subtropical rainforests. A good place to base yourself to explore the surrounding nature, Amapondo is also a jubilant space, sometimes hosting live bands and top DJs, it’s a place that has it all.
