That was out of necessity rather than recreation. Today, backpacking has become a mainstream form of travelling. Backpackers are inexpensive lodgings such as hostels or dormitories. Durban is a popular tourist city, known for its world-class surfing spots and as the curry capital of South Africa. With several urban entertainment hubs and the Golden Mile – a stretch of nearly six kilometres of pristine beaches – Durban has no shortage of things to explore. We’ve compiled a list of five backpackers in Durban for those wanting to live it up by the coast on a shoestring. In addition to beaches and bars, here are some other great things to do in Durban: 1.
