Penguins take advantage of empty aquarium Posted by Adrian Brown on 24 March 2020 While people are stuck indoors due to the coronavirus pandemic, the penguins at the Two Oceans Aquarium are taking full advantage of newfound freedom. On 22 March the Two Oceans took to Twitter to share a video of the liberated penguins roaming around the closed aquarium. ‘Even though the Two Oceans Aquarium is closed amid the #COVID19 pandemic, our staff are still hard at work caring for our animals. For our precious #penguins, like little Jasmine, no public visitors means getting to have the Aquarium to themselves,” the Aquarium said. Earlier in the year, the Aquarium shared footage of penguins making their way down a flight of stairs. We know what you’re thinking: “It’s two weeks into 2020 and the Aquarium hasn’t shared a video of penguins on stairs!!!”🐧 Well, here you go. Thanks for the adorable video @claudielayton/IG 📹 #cute pic.twitter.com/Mo7acf93XM — Two Oceans Aquarium (@2OceansAquarium) January 14, 2020 The penguins are often taken on walks, but the closing of doors to the public has significantly decreased the usual restrictions. People on Twitter were very happy with the new penguin content, with @Sham04 asking about a penguin called Aya specifically. Just being adorable, as always. 😁 pic.twitter.com/NT2EZTjJLM — Two Oceans Aquarium (@2OceansAquarium) March 23, 2020 Other responses included ‘Penguin Party Time!’ and ‘Your penguins are a beacon of hope to all of us. Blessings to you’. Some penguin goodness is exactly what we needed at a time like this.
