Tankwa Karoo National Park falls part of the Succulent Karoo Biome and comprises the lowland and upland succulent Karoo vegetation type.

The Oudebasskraal Dam is found in this national park and birds and wildlife arrive to enjoy a splash of water every now and then. Here, hundreds of pink flamingos can be spotted too.

Learn more from ReWild’s video below:

Over 178 bird species can be spotted in the park and with the assistance of a guide, you could identify a lot more than you think. Black-headed Canary, Ludwig’s Bustard, and the Black-eared Sparrow-Lark are the most exciting birds to stay on the lookout for.

Often found at the Oudebasskraal Dam are Springbok, Kudu and Steenbok.

Tankwa’s vision is to help promote the community’s participation and empowerment to balance economic and social development through the conservation of our ecological and cultural heritage.
