New spiral walkway opens in Danish forest Posted on 24 April 2019 Tags:Denmark, forest, walkway A striking new walkway that twists, turns and spirals through a forest south of Copenhagen has opened to visitors this month ahead of the Danish summer. The Treetop Experience, as it is called, is the brainchild of Camp Adventure and built by Effekt Architecture in a forest called Gisselfeld Klosters Skove. Set among trees and overlooking the forest, lakes and wetlands, the idea is to give visitors a unique perspective of the forest and the unusual opportunity of walking through it on a spiralling ramp that takes you up above the canopy. The impressive design of the tower begins with a wide base that tapers in the middle as the ramp moves higher before extending outwards again to the viewing platform at the top of the tower. The ramp is wide enough to allow for wheelchair access, making it another inclusive tourist attraction. Camp Adventure also offers hiking and other forest activities. According to its website, the treetop walk ‘creates a unique opportunity to take a walk above the treetops and experience the stunning nature of the preserved forest from another perspective. The tower and treetop walk is a seamless continuous ramp that makes the forest accessible to all – regardless of their physical condition.’ Tickets can be purchased online, and cost 125 Danish krone (about R270).
