5 reasons to plan a post-lockdown spring holiday Posted by Anita Froneman on 30 April 2020 Level 5 of the lockdown is drawing to a close and soon we’ll move on to bigger and better things. Well, maybe not quite. We are still under Level 4 from 1 May and will have to put up with restricted movement for a little while longer. We know, however, that this too shall pass and we will be able to fulfil our travel dreams once more. We know that it will likely be months until we are able to go on holiday locally again, and even longer to go abroad. Of course, South Africa is best, so we suggest you keep it local! There’s no harm in planning that long overdue trip in the meantime, and should it be safe to move around come spring, we’ll be ready. Here are 5 good reasons to get dreaming about where to go. 1. The economy needs you View this post on Instagram Today is the last day to enter our Join our Great Eggscape competition! Collect all twenty eggs across five familiar sites to stand to win. The travel industry is one of those that has been hit the hardest as all airlines, tour operators, hotels, restaurants and other businesses have been closed for weeks with some even closing down permanently. Let’s help each other get back on our feet by supporting local business owners where we can. 2. The weather will be great View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amanda Silva (@mandadsilva) on Jan 7, 2020 at 4:21pm PST During September and October, South Africa will have just emerged from winter. Springtime is generally lovely throughout the country, with sunny days, minimal wind or rain and a fresh feeling in the air. We all know the summer times can be sweltering, so choose spring to make the most of the good weather. 3. Nature will be in full bloom View this post on Instagram Have you been to see the #wildflowers of the #westcoastnationalpark yet? Many fruit trees blossom and wild flowers (like those on the West Coast) are a sight to behold. The tropical climate of KwaZulu-Natal also makes for beautiful views. 4. A break is good for stress relief View this post on Instagram “Been there, jumped that.” 💁♂️ #WowSouthAfrica Ready for the thrill of a lifetime? Bloukrans Bridge Bungy is the world’s highest commercial bungee bridge, reaching more than 700 feet above the Bloukrans River (that’s 65 stories! 🏢 😳) Access the bridge off the N2 Highway at the border between the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape along the Garden Route. Not to mention the stress and uncertainty many of us experience due to financial pressure, health concerns and other factors that might contribute to anxiety. Get out, do something fun and live a little! We guarantee you will feel like a brand new person. 5. It has so much to offer, it’s almost impossible to choose. What better way to appreciate it than going out, exploring, visiting and getting involved? After all, local is lekker!
