Day one on the island: Life 2 the Limit Adventure Challenge Posted on 4 April 2010 So the beach was quite different from what I’d expected, the waves breaking far more roughly than I would like. We had no initial plan on arrival, so people wandered around a little and did some exploring. Carrying the med kit down the beach was no fun as it is REALLY heavy. Most of the group then went about finding somewhere to put their hammocks, but I decided to check out the water quality first. We tried out the mini filter pump with good effect (there was much debate about bringing it, but I am very glad we did!). The water tastes ok, a little brackish, but I don’t think dangerously so. Then, with the help of Kristen and Maya, I constructed a frame to support the med kit off the ground. Worked well – I love constructing stuff. This took a lot of the afternoon, and then in a rush I had to find a hammock spot with the help of Nick. In the meantime, Matt found a coconut, which we all enjoyed and everyone was picking up hermit crabs, including some very big grand-daddies for dinner. They were boiled and enjoyed by everyone. We sat around the fire chatting for some time, but everyone was pretty tired so we headed to bed. Getting into the hammock was a bit tricky, and that was the end of the day.
