Get cultured with an artsy excursion in Stellenbosch Posted by David Henning on 1 June 2022 Situated in the historical epicentre of Stellenbosch, Eendracht Hotel and Apartments are offering a range of packages, ranging from food to adventure and art. Here’s a little taste of what you would get from the art package. Stepping into Gavin Collin’s Gallery on Kerk Street is a surreal experience, as you marvel at the detail in his oil paintings. The artsy excursion includes a two-night stay in the hotel, with an art walking tour of Stellenbosch. FYI, this isn’t your standard walking tour but takes you into the studios of South African artists, giving you insight into the eclectic minds and personalities of renowned artists. The walking tour also gives you the chance to find your bearings if you are not familiar with Stellies as you get a comprehensive run-down of the town. There is an array of art scattered around, but the tour seems to come alive once you enter the studio. Our tour was fortunate enough to catch Stephen Rautenbach in his studio on Kerk Street, where he was busy with his wax figurines while the studio’s resident cat seemed to be the featured display. Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden An art tour to Stelebosch would not be complete without a visit to the Dylan Lewis sculpture garden. His sculptures are world-renowned, and his sculpture garden is a world of its own. You can tell by the inspiration drawn from nature, where much of the garden incorporates the indigenous fynbos, and the garden is a perfect symphony of curated landscapes and untamed wildness. The sculpture garden is a visual treat, where you can find yourself wandering for hours taking it all in. Eendracht’s Artsy Excursion Eendracht Hotel & Apartments is situated in Dorp Street in the heart of historical Stellenbosch.
