Whale washes ashore in Mossel Bay Posted on 8 February 2023 Mossel Bay municipal officers removed a whale carcass at Hersham Beach near Glentana on Monday, 6 February. The carcass was too composed to make a positive species identification, said the Stranded Marine Animal Rescue Team spokesperson, Val Marsh. Drone Fanatics SA captured incredible shots of the decomposed whale as it slowly drifted towards the beach. The beach between Groot Brak River and Hersham was reopened following the successful disposal of the whale carcass when it was buried above the highwater mark.
