Photo album: mountain gorillas in Rwanda Posted on 19 January 2011 Tags:Rwanda About five years ago, I was lucky enough to go mountain gorilla tracking in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park. It was an experience any travel and wildlife lover would give a great deal to have and it remains one of my happiest travel memories: that hour spent in the company of these charming, charismatic primates. I was fortunate to have one of the best sightings possible: the Sabyinyo Group, the gorilla family we encountered, were relaxed, playful and happy to go about their daily life while we sat enthralled only a few feet away. These photos, taken with a Nikon D70 when I was still a newbie photographer, are not a testament to my skill or to the abilitlies of my equipment, but to the incredible power of the gorillas, their individuality and their beauty. My hope is that this family will remain living safely in these mountains for many more years and that many other lucky travellers many encounter them too.
