There are three rounds, with the first and now the second winners having been announced. READ: First winner announced of De Hoop Photo Competition Thinus van Staden is the proud winner of the second round of the nature photo competition with an image of an eland. ‘In January 2022, just after the new year, we had the privilege of visiting De Hoop Nature Reserve for the first time. We were overwhelmed with the beautiful landscapes, and the abundance of animal and bird life,’ Van Staden said. ‘On our first afternoon we saw a large herd of eland, but they were far away. Then, the following morning, the herd was closer to the road. This amazingly beautiful bull was parading amongst the ladies, which made it really difficult to get a photo of it alone. But, after about 45 minutes of trying and waiting, he turned around in a spot that gave me this view.’ Round 3 runs from 1 September to 10 November 2022 with another accommodation voucher for two nights for four people in a self-catering cottage up for grabs. Thereafter, the Grand Prize winner will be chosen between the three winning images. The Grand Prize is two nights for 2 pax in a luxury suite including dinner, bed and breakfast and a guided activity per day.
