Voltaic's Fuse solar charging system attaches to anything… almost. Posted on 12 March 2012 Power on the trail? The Fuse Solar Charger is a lightweight way to add solar and battery power to any bag. It connects in seconds to bags, tents, bicycles and pretty much any place else you might need solar power. We came across this really cool solar charging solution for hikers, bikers and strikers and were pleasantly surprised to find that there is a local South African supplier. While the Fuse delivers 4 Watts of Solar Power: 1 hour in sun = 3 hours talk time and Battery: Up to 19 hours talk time or 48 hours music playback, what sets the Fuse apart is the adaptability. It’s designed to be able to fit to virtually anything with some clever configurable straps and buckles. Voltaic, the Fuse manufacturers say: ‘The Fuse is equipped with three straps (two 1 inch and one 3/4 inch) and a series of clips. The most important thing to understand is that each part of each clip can be removed from the strap and attached elsewhere. This creates a lot of flexibility. These instructions can be modified to let you attach to a bike rack or tent, etc.’ Check out how the system works in the demo video below. Currently the price for a 4W unit is R1750-00 VAT inclusive (it will vary according to the exchange rate). Delivery via Berco courier service to major centres in SA, courier charge is R99-00. But wait there’s more… Meet the “Fuse” 10 Watt Solar Charger The 10 Watt is powerful enough to charge your tablets and laptops. 10 Watt Fuse will be R3750-00 Vat inclusive + R99-00 for delivery. These can be ordered from DC Powerhouse SA directly or email [email protected]. For the full product spec list and all the relevant info go to Voltaic’s website.
