Gamin’s Fenix is what’s become know as an ABC watch – Altimeter, Barometer, Compass. The watch is a GPS at it’s heart and has all the functionality available in a conventional handheld device. Actually with the add-ons like heart rate monitors and bluetooth smartphone access it does a whole lot more than the now old and clunky box GPS’s.

This Fenix is a really good-looking unit, is robust and incredibly easy to use. The menu is logical and features set profiles for activities such as hiking, mountaineering, fishing, geocaching plus a few more. Each profile brings up a combination of activity-relevant screens as you scroll through. There are additional tools that make use of the GPS such as sun- & moonrise times based on your location, area calculation and best times for hunting and fishing among others.

The Fenix comes with a clip that attaches it to the usb port of either the wall charger for charging or the port on your PC to sync the data. All data collected is displayed on Garmin’s dedicated website for the user to access and analyse and even export.
