Funny signs of the week

Posted on 18 June 2012

We all happen across them from time to time. Little pockets of humour spread all over the countryside. It doesn’t matter whether it is in a remote little village or on your everyday travels; a funny sign, whether intentional or not, can often make your journey memorable – or at the very least, liven up your day. This week’s funny signs were compiled by Devlin Nightingale.

The following funny signs were sent in over the past week by our readers:
Tree curving - Rene Naegeli
Rene Naegeli found this sign at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary in Serowe, Botswana. Not many people are aware of how damaging tree curving is. It doesn’t really damage the tree physically but emotionally the tree is never the same. Tree carving however does both.
Anarchy in the UK - Sue & Mike Soroczynski
Sue and Mike Soroczynski spotted this situation whilst in the UK earlier in the year. When the Sex Pistols sang about ‘Anarchy in the UK’ I don’t think they realised the repercussions.
Caution: Cats - Natalie Ward
Natalie Ward uncovered this sign in Montagu high street. We also have a dangerous cat in our neighbourhood. Always accosting me when I get home. Meowing. Rolling on his back. Purring.
Beware: Lions - Carline Cornelissen
Carline Cornelissen saw this variation of the “Beware of the…” sign on a business trip in Hoedspruit a few years ago. I can’t help but think that they are bluffing. Will I test my theory? Nope.
Lack of brains - Yusraa Ameen
Yusraa Ameen snapped this up in the Kruger National Park. You have to admire little ‘attacks’ like this. This was definitely planned and stickers had to be made. The ‘attack’ probably happened at night.
Making passion happen - Charles Brightman
Charles Brightman discovered this sign whilst travelling through Harare, Zimbabwe. Don’t try to make sense of this. Just know that they are “making passion happen.”
Location - Jeannette Bisschoff
Jeannette Bisschoff spotted this sign in Hout Bay. It’s a hot deal if I ever saw one. Always remember that when considering property it is always about location, location, location.

Pop in again next week for another dose of funny. Alternatively, if you think you have happened upon a sign worthy of this space please email it to [email protected]
