Funny signs of the week Posted on 12 June 2012 Tags:Africa, Zimbabwe We all happen across them from time to time. Little pockets of humour spread all over the countryside. It doesn’t matter whether it is in a remote little village or on your everyday travels; a funny sign, whether intentional or not, can often make your journey memorable – or at the very least, liven up your day. This week’s funny signs were compiled by Devlin Nightingale. The following funny signs were sent in over the past week by our readers: Hermann Böhmer was behind this truck and made sure to snap up this pic before choosing the right side to pass. Again I say it. How many people tried to pass on the suicide before the sign came into existence? My little mind boggles. Gabriel Geral spotted this sign on his way to the Lydenberg Mountains for his Honeymoon. At least the sign is explicit and doesn’t leave much room for interpretation. Just slow down people. For five snakes, slow down. Henning Gawrisch found this sign outside the bathrooms by Table Mountain. He has subsequently become a little bit afraid to enter a public toilette that hasn’t got a sign like that; finding somebody sitting in the middle of the room, reading a newspaper and giving him a friendly nod. A valid concern, I say! Mitchell Krog came across this sign whilst on his way to Krugersdorp. It’s the unexpected additions that make this amusing. It is great to see that they are able to stick with the times though and diversify their range of products. Also you can use your new bakkie to get your goats back home. Win/win. Louise Minnaar noticed this one at the Kambaku golf club which overlooks the Crocodile River and the Kruger Park. I’m sure it works wonders. Can you just imagine the hyped up children asking if they can keep the puppy. Promising to look after him. Crying. Laughing. Running. Della du Plessis was at the Waterberg Game Park when she discovered this sign. I guess Jim isn’t the type of adult supervision you would want for your children. Just be cautious. He is from the jungle. Denis Landsberg took this on a hike of Robberg in Plettenberg Bay. What an apt name of a place. The sign is a little unnecessary though. The Bay agrees with me on this one, I can tell. Mark Soothill found this sign whilst stopping for a Coke in West Nicholson, Zimbabwe. Their speciality is of particular concern when you consider Zim’s past habits with their farmers. Also the home killing is rather ambiguous and wholly alarming. Janke van Zyl snapped a pic of this sign in the men’s bathroom at Gariep Dam Airfield. Just as well I am not a pilot, else it is possible that I might get offended! Pop in again next week for another dose of funny.
