Bacardí cocktail contest now open to all countries Posted on 20 June 2019 Tags:Bacardi, cocktails, drinks, recipe, Rum The Bacardí Legacy Cocktail Competition has been welcoming bartenders and their signature rum cocktail recipes into its ranks for more than a decade. However, bartenders could previously only enter the competition if the country they worked in was a participant through a local Bacardí distributor or agent – until now. The world’s largest cocktail competition tasks bartenders from around the world with dreaming up and creating an original and innovative recipe for a Barcardí rum cocktail. The winning drink will ideally ‘stand the test of time and become established in the industry’, like classics such as the mojito or daiquiri cocktail. The winning cocktail for this year was called ‘Pink Me Up’, a combination of rum, fresh tomato, syrup, lemon juice, olive brine and basil. The winner of this round will gain a spot in the top 40 and compete in Miami in May next year for the title of Bacardí Legacy Global Champion. ‘As more and more bartenders see the incredible opportunities competing in Legacy offers, we get countless enquiries from them asking how to take part. It’s always been gutting to have to say that they can’t because their country isn’t participating – so we just knew we had to come up with a creative way to make the competition open to as wide a field as possible,’ says Dickie Cullimore, Global Ambassador of Bacardí Rum.
