Photoblog: Neighbourgoods market at the Old Biscuit Mill Posted on 10 October 2013 Tags:Cape Town, Johannesburg We are certainly among the lucky ones to have numerous markets and festivals around Cape Town that offer vibrant sights, tastes and smells. One of which is the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock. (Read: Neighbourgoods Market: food for the soul). ‘Come rain or shine’ the market will be open and happening for 5 hours every week while maintaining its high standards of goodness. I have heard about the Old Biscuit Mill many times from friends and family who had gone before me. Eventually I got my piece of the Biscuit pie and got to see what all the fuss was about. Walking into the market, the first thing I thought was ‘These people were under-selling this place’. Seeing as it would be physically impossible to eat all of the food, I had to make do with photographing it… The burger that started it all. The onions and guacamole are so good they are worth going back for over and over again. A calendar of seasonal events, specialty celebrations, and live music feature throughout the year at the Neighbourgoods Market. Refreshing smoothies are the perfect aid to replenish lost energy. Made on site they promise the ultimate quality. Macaroon madness is a highlight at the market and transports everyone to a Parisian cafe. Sweet treats are truly guilt-free, as they do not contain all the harmful preservatives. Also the homemade touch adds a little something extra. Locals and tourists gather at the market every Saturday, and since its inception in 2006 it has created a great name for itself. Get nutty with 'by Nature', which promises natural and organic produce such as fresh raw nuts. Indulge in the ultimate deliciousness of this treat again and again. The fresh produce at the Old Biscuit Mill is a breath of fresh air and everything looks better and brighter. Perfection is in the pudding. Little delicacies like this drove me to sweet Heaven! Baked breads are just one of the many foodie flavours that the Old Biscuit Mill is famous for.
