World Hoop Day Cape Town 2012 Posted on 30 November 2012 Tags:Cape Town There’s a World Hoop day? That’s usually the reaction I get when I say I’m a hula hoop performer at World Hoop Day 2012. So just to clarify, yes there is such a thing and it is organised by Arise and Hoop. World Hoop Day gives hoops and raises funds for underprivileged communites World Hoop Day is a global event that takes place on six continents in 38 cities on 12 December 2012. It is a charity event hosted by hooping communities across the globe with one main goal – ‘To change the world one hoop at a time, one child at a time.’ The event creates funding to distribute hula hoops to schools, orphanages, villages and camps around the world. Cape Towns’ Arise and Hoop is supporting the South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) this year. World Hoop Day - 'Changing the world one hoop at a time, one child at a time.' So why hooping? Hula hooping is a great form of exercise, working your core muscles, thighs and abdominals. Hooping is all about having fun, the moment you are smiling everyone around you smiles. World Hoop Day strives to bring happiness to children and adults through play. As adults we often get caught up in the stresses and necessities of day to day life. We forget that we still have a child inside us, wanting nothing more than to just play. LED hoops light up the night - you can play anywhere! Throughout World Hoop Day you can expect to find food, clothing, crafts, awareness stalls, a jumping castle, action ball activities, clowns and circus performers, face painting, free hooping and raffles. There will also be yoga, hooping workshops for kids and adults, and a Cape Town hooping record. Don’t miss out on the evenings entertainment of fire performances and drumming with Arise and Hoop and Firetribe. Fire hoopers doing their thing with love. Expect to see them at World Hoop Day.
