More than just bushveld: Get to know Limpopo

Posted by Adrian Brown on 23 November 2020

Limpopo is known for the bushveld and exellent wildlife reserves, including part of Kruger National Park. This beautiful province borders Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique.

However, there is more to the province than safari escapes. In the western parts of the Kruger, you will find the craggy Blouberg mountains and Makgabeng Plateau with ancient rock art. Near the provincial capital Polokwane, you will come across the Arend Dieperink Museum and fossil-rich caves of Makapansgat.

Limpopo has not one but three airports, including Polokwane International Airport, Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit and Kruger National Park Airport in Phalaborwa.

Another one of the popular attractions include the Echo Caves in the northernmost range of the Drakensberg. The caves are well known for the hollow dolomite in this area. Visitors can enjoy hour-long tours through beautiful large chambers with stalactites and stalagmites. Zipline adventures are also a common attraction and activity in the province. The Waterberg Zipline takes guests on an exciting, two-hour journey sliding from one platform to the next.
