Mozambique’s Ibo Island Posted on 19 February 2009 Tags:Mozambique Perched on the bow of an ancient dhow heading out with the tide between tropical reefs and forgotten islands at 4.30 in the morning. I was astounded by the reverent silence that enveloped the men on board. A giant purple sun breaches the horizon to my left amidst streaks of blue and gold, as the massive orange moons dips in its starry night sky into the glassy ocean to my right. All that can be heard is the salty lapping of the sea against the dhow’s sides, and the warm breeze pushing us out towards the endless horizon. I am stricken by how humbled I am by the demeanor of our local translator, skipper and deck-hand, who seem as appreciative of the beautiful simplicity contained in that moment as I am, regardless of their experiencing it most every day. And how lucky I am to call this the work that I do. Danny Kodesh – 2nd Camera Related Posts 12 sensational Western Cape campsites 30 May 2023 Love camping? So do we.
